Title: Return of a Wild Peshastin
Description:
Rivers are wild by nature. But over time, we’ve drawn boundaries, built walls, and carved roads too close to their banks—shaping their paths to serve our needs rather than their own.
Now, Peshastin Creek has a rare opportunity to return to its wilder self—with a little kick-start from us. Through large-scale restoration efforts, the river will be given space to move again: to meander, to deposit wood, to rebuild the complexity that both salmon and paddlers thrive on.
For those of us who read water, this shift brings new features, a wilder experience, new hazards, and the opportunity to experience the transformation of a river that’s finding its voice again. This isn’t the same Peshastin Creek you’ve known—but that’s the point.
Join American Whitewater and Cascade Fisheries on May 21st at 5:30 pm at Colchuck Consignment to learn what’s changing, what it means for boaters, and how we can all embrace the return of a wilder Peshastin.
